The National Partnership for Student Success Celebrates Progress with First Anniversary Virtual Celebration
11 July 2023 | Baltimore, MD – The National Partnership for Student Success (NPSS) Support Hub, based at the Johns Hopkins Everyone Graduates Center, is thrilled to release its Year in Review Brief outlining key progress made in the initiative’s first year.
The NPSS was launched July 2022 following a call to action from the Biden-Harris Administration for more Americans to serve as tutors, mentors, college/career advisors, student success coaches, and integrated student support coordinators to provide young people with supportive learning environments and experiences that will support them to recover from the impacts of the pandemic and thrive.
During its first year, the NPSS has helped to answer the President’s call by:
- mobilizing a national effort at local, state, and federal levels,
- increasing the number of states connecting more evidence-based and people-powered supports to students, and
- growing the NPSS coalition to nearly 140 supporting champion organizations committed to working together to get more people-powered student supports to young people in communities nationwide.
“When President Biden issued the call to help students recover and thrive in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, AmeriCorps was eager and well-positioned to respond,” said AmeriCorps CEO Michael D. Smith. “Together, we are leveraging the power of service and volunteering to rally behind our students and ensure they are set up to learn, grow, and thrive.”
“As a lifelong educator, I am inspired by and deeply appreciative of the mission and work of the National Partnership for Student Success, and for what you do to enable optimal outcomes for historically underrepresented and underserved students and communities. By building bridges across states, school districts, and communities, you are doing the essential work of informing, inspiring, and connecting people and organizations. Together, we are able to redesign and build a world-class public education that all our students need and deserve. What you do is needed now more than ever” states Deputy Secretary of Education Cindy Marten.
